Poly-Filter For Clear Aquarium Water
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Aquatics | Tropical Aquariums | Aquarium Filters | Marine Aquariums | Fish | PolyFilter | Filter Media
Poly-Filter is used for filtering and purifying both fresh and salt water aquariums. It is a formulation of a special patented material bonded to a synthetic matrix. By means of a unique proprietary process, the Poly-Filter is made impervious to salt and is also organic loving to certain materials. It can absorb and adsorb contaminants and other toxic materials found in nature or added to fresh and salt water with or without fish and invertebrates. Medication added to fresh and salt water aquariums for treatment of diseased fish will automatically be removed by the Poly-Filter after serving their intended purpose before the medication can produce a toxic effect on the fish.   Poly-Filter is non-toxic and harmless to biological filtration because it allows a sufficient amount of ammonia to reach the biological filter in order to sustain the bacteria culture. Poly-Filter provides a supplemental means for removal of ammonia when the biological filter is unable to break dow.. [More] polyfilterblog.jpg

Rethink filtration possibilities with greater energy efficiency and custom installation options. The innovative Aquael Midikani 800 canister filter employs the silent running Aquael Midikani inline pump that boasts dual internal (in tank) or external (out-of-tank) use while drawing just 6-watts of electricity! Unique filter design eliminates the bulky motor head to maximize space for filter media as well as enhance maintenance convenience. Enjoy cleaner, clearer aquarium water and routine filter maintenance that's a breeze! The Aquael Midikani 800 canister filter features four preloaded media chambers and a filter cover with a quick-release valve block that doubles as a filter output regulator. Simply turn the valve to adjust filter flow rate and a 90-degree turn of the valve completely stops water flow into the canister filter. Water flow is cleverly diverted back into your aquarium, allowing the pump to maintain vital circulation in your aquarium even as you disconnect .. [More] MIDIKANI blog.jpg

Using UV Sterilizers For Reef Tanks
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Aquatics | Aquael | Fish | Aquarium Filters | Marine Aquariums
Successful reef tanks require a delicate balance and hard work to keep all their inhabitants healthy. A UV sterilizer may make it easier to keep your tank clean, but ease of use doesn't matter if it disrupts that crucial balance. A clear view of the risks and benefits will help you know if this type of filtration system is right for your tank. How A UV Sterilizer Works These filtration systems work by drawing up a small amount of tank water at a time, usually through a powerhead motor, and passing it over a UV bulb. The procedure kills fungi, algae, bacteria, parasites and sometimes viruses, depending on the strength of the bulb and the amount of time the water spends under UV light. Some UV systems claim to kill as much as 99 percent of the organisms that pass through them. The system can help hobbyists prevent disease and parasites in their tanks and get a handle on algae blooms. Effect on Supplemental Products In addition to killing harmful organisms, UV li.. Filter Media Maintenance
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Aquatics | Fish | Aquarium Filters | MarinePure | Tropical Aquariums | Marine Aquariums | Filter Media
The filter is widely considered the most important part of any fish aquarium. This fantastic piece of kit will keep your fish happy by removing toxic waste products and chemicals from the aquarium. Some filters also work to ensure that air is introduced into the water.   Without filter media inside the filter however, it will be pretty much pointless. Filter media is used to collect all of the particles and dirt that is removed from the aquarium, so that it doesn’t flow straight back into the fish tank. There are three types of filter media, mechanical, biological, and chemical. All three types can work together to ensure the smooth running of your fish tank. Over time, beneficial bacteria will grow inside your tank and inside the filtration media, helping the fish tank to stay healthy naturally. How to clean your filter media Never wash your filter media in tap water. This will strip the filter media of bacteria by polluting it with chlorine and o.. [More] filter media maintenance.jpg

Choosing Bio Filter Media
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Aquatics | Tropical Aquariums | Fish | Aquarium Filters | MarinePure
The wide variety of biological filter materials available today can confuse almost anyone trying to find the right one for their aquarium. Every manufacturer claims their filter material is the most efficient and easiest to use. Cost considerations aside, efficiency, adaptability and ease of maintenance are the factors considered in choosing the best material. All fish tanks need at least some form of biological and mechanical filtration to maintain a healthy environment. Fish produce wastes which cannot be filtered completely using mechanical or chemical methods. Unless these wastes are removed, over time they will build up to a lethal level. In biological filtration, two types of beneficial bacteria known as "nitrofiers" grow in the tank and convert harmful wastes into something less harmful. All aquariums need to have successful biological filtration in order for the fish to remain healthy.Typically it takes about a month to establish a flourishing biolo.. One of the newer additions to our canister filter line, is the UniMax Plus canister filter from AquaEl. AquaEl is still a relatively new name to the South African market, with a long history of quality products sold in Europe. The UniMax Plus is one of the best canister filters to hit the South African market in recent years, with several features that make it both unique, and high performance. The feature that really stands out with the UniMax plus, is its internal UV sterilizer, providing unrivaled water quality, with a single piece of equipment. Mechanical, Biological, Chemical, and Sterilization all in one. Another cool feature of the UniMax, are the multiple intakes and outlets on the two larger models. This gives you much improved water flow in larger tanks, versus models with only a single inlet and outlet. The impeller design is also unique in the unimax, the impeller housing sits below the water level inside the canister, unlike most other units that h.. [More] unimax canister filter blog.jpg
