When feeding Excel Tasty Nuggets for the first time, when i opened the bag it was like opening a bag of premium dog/cat food. I did not do a mix but added a bowl of the nuggets leaving the current food I am feeding in to 'test" the piggies. Well straight to the bowl they went and proceeded to eat the Tasty Nuggets. I soon started the second test, are they eating more or less, and to my surprise even when feeding a full bowl they would leave the food and come back to it, unlike the current food I am feeding where they would finish... and in their demanding way as we all know want more. I find the tasty nuggets to be what I have been looking for, for my pigs a guaranteed balanced diet.

I was extremely happy when I heard that Burgess excel was finally available in SA, as it comes recommended in all the overseas forums. Because of lack of choice in foods in SA I was forced to feed my pigs muesli, which I know is not best for them. Burgess Excel food has met all my expectations. It is clear from the look and smell that this is a good quality product. It took my pigs a little while to get used to it, but they now it certainly is a loved part of their diet. The best thing about this food is that I don't find bits of unwanted food all around the cage like I used to with the muesli, because it's all the same the pigs can't pick and choose the tasty high sugar bits and leave the rest. I find my packet of food lasts an extremely long time and although it may cost a little bit more per bag, in the long run it works out very economically. I would recommend this food to any guinea pig owner.

My piggies love this! I think they even prefer this more than the standard Burgess pig nuggets. I have reached the end of my first bag and am very pleased with the small amount of powder left (very little wastage). I used to feed them muesli and there would always be a lot of crumbs full of all sorts of seeds and corn towards the end of the bag that I could not bring myself to feed them. So taking that into account, I feel that Burgess is comparable in price with "high end" guinea pig muesli food and is a much better product to boot.

With Burgess Excel food I have reduced the amount I feed by 50%. Even with the smaller amount it is evident that my Guinea Pigs are full and satisfied throughout a whole 24 hour period. This is witness to how nutritious and balanced this food is and obviously also saves money.
