By registering your personal details with this website you are agreeing to these terms and conditions. These terms and conditions help to keep this website a safe place to trade and set out the agreement reached between you and Pet Habitat. None of the below affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Placing Orders

You must be a registered user to view this website. If you have not yet registered please click on REGISTER and submit your information.

If you a pet retailer and wish to place an order, please contact us directly via email and request a dealer application form. Once your application is approved you will be provided with a login email and password to access our exclusive dealer page.


All payments are charged in South African Rands (ZAR). Upon using the checkout facility you agree that the details you provide to Pet Habitat for the purpose of ordering or purchasing goods are correct, that the credit or debit card you are using is your own and that there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of the goods. All goods remain the property of Pet Habitat until paid for in full.

For wholesale accounts you may apply for credit terms with us by requesting our dealer application form. Our credit terms are usually strictly “30 days from Invoice Date”. Large retail companies with multiple branches may request “30 days from Statement” credit terms.

Delivery Lead Time

Typically we ship orders within 24 hours and sometimes the same day. Orders placed before 1.00pm Mondays to Thursdays will usually be processed that day subject to confirmation. Orders placed after this time will usually be processed on the next working day subject to confirmation. It normally takes 3 to 4 working days for deliveries to arrive at their destination, depending on your location in South Africa. Outlying remote areas in South Africa may take between 4-10 working days for deliveries to arrive. During a busy holiday season it may take up to 8 business days for deliveries to arrive, but this is unusual. If you have a rush order, please let us know and we will exert extra effort to try to get your order out sooner. 

Pet Habitat shall not be liable for any loss or take responsibility for failure to deliver goods on scheduled time period since this is beyond our company's control.

Delivery Fees

We charge a delivery fee of R120 for orders under R800 from Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal. Deliveries are normally free for orders above R800 from these provinces. The delivery fee is much higher for other provinces and outlying remote areas and minimum order value for free delivery is normally R3000 or more.

For all wholesale accounts, deliveries are normally no charge, unless you located in an outlying remote area where First Freight Couriers do not deliver.


All orders are shipped via First Freight Couriers so please provide a physical ship-to address. We do not use South African postal services for any deliveries. A tracking number will be available for your convenience which will allow you to easily track your packages on First Freight website.

Shipping Errors/Damaged Goods

First, start by inspecting all products upon receipt of your delivery. Damages, shortages, mis-picks, and other ordering errors must be reported within 48 hours of delivery. We will then either issue you a credit or send replacement product at no charge. Pet Habitat accepts no liability for any loss resulting from the customer’s failure to comply with our carrier’s delivery. 

Product Prices

Pet Habitat makes every effort to ensure that the prices shown on the website are correct. However, if an error has been made, Pet Habitat reserves the right not to process the order. In such circumstances, Pet Habitat will advise you as soon as possible. You will have the option of purchasing the goods at the correct price. Alternatively you may cancel the order. If Pet Habitat does not receive a response from you following confirmation of the correct price within 4 days, then the order will be cancelled automatically and will not be processed. If the order is cancelled then Pet Habitat will refund or re-credit you for any monies paid.

Out of Stock

We try to have everything in stock. However, there may be unavoidable outages. When an out of stock situation occurs we do not back-order out-of-stock items. We will either hold your order if we expect to have it back in stock within a few days, or for wholesale accounts we will send your order without the items.

Should we be unable to supply a product due to the inability of our suppliers to provide the product we are under no obligation to do anything other than remove the product from our website and refund your payment in full.

If a product becomes discontinued or is unavailable within 30 days of your order, Pet Habitat reserves the right to substitute part or all of your order with a similar, more expensive and/or newer version of the product (at no extra cost to you) even from a different brand. When a product is substituted your normal seven working days right to return the unopened/unused product under Consumer Protection Act are not affected and Pet Habitat will pay the cost of returning such substituted goods safely at our recommendation of shipping service.

Refunds and Returns

Pet Habitat does not do any refunds for goods that has been dispatched from our warehouse already. If a refund is granted for goods that has been dispatched, the customer will be responsible to refund our delivery charges from courier company which can be anything from R150 to R900 depending on location. Refunds are normally granted for cancelled orders that have not left our warehouse yet. If a customer wishes to return any goods for a refund, the goods must be returned at customer's own expense and must arrive at our warehouse in perfect condition. 

Website Downtime

Pet Habitat may temporarily suspend www.pethabitat.co.za either partially or completely for any reason. We will restore www.pethabitat.co.za as soon as reasonably practicable after a suspension. We will not be liable to you for any loss which you may incur as a result of any such suspension.

If Pet Habitat is unable to provide www.pethabitat.co.za for reasons beyond our control such as technical failure, lightning, flood, or exceptionally severe weather, fire or explosion, civil disorder, war, or military operations, natural or local emergency, anything done by government or other competent authority or industrial disputes of any kind (whether or not involving our employees), Pet Habitat will not be liable.

Responsibility for Content

Articles, content, and advice on our website www.pethabitat.co.za are offered for informational purposes only. Although we have presented the best information we can find, in good faith, Pet Habitat shall not be responsible or liable for the accuracy, usefulness or availability of any information transmitted or made available via the website, and shall not be responsible or liable for any error or omission in that information.

The website does contain a number of links to other websites and online resources that are not owned or controlled by Pet Habitat. Pet Habitat has no control over, and therefore cannot assume responsibility for, the content or general practices of any of these third-party websites and/or services. Therefore, we strongly advise you to read the entire terms and conditions and privacy policy of any site that you visit as a result of following a link that is posted on our website.

Advertising Policy

Pet Habitat does not accept advertisements, nor do we sell or promote products in exchange for any monetary or other benefits. We take our reputation and credibility very seriously and we only sell, promote, or endorse products we believe in.

Liability of Product Use

Pet Habitat assumes no responsibility for damage or injury sustained in the use of any of our products sold from our website.

Wholesale Prices

Wholesale discounted prices are only available to customers that will be reselling our products to the consumer through an established brick-and-mortar retail store or online retailers with their own storefronts.

Wholesale Account Minimum Orders

We require all wholesale account orders to be a minimum value of R4 000. Orders from wholesale accounts below this amount will not be processed.

Wholesale Account Pet Food Returns

When contacting Pet Habitat about a return of pet food, please provide your store name, account number and invoice number. Pet Habitat defines a short-dated product as any product with 90 days or less remaining before expiration. If you believe we have shipped a short-dated product, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We will investigate but will only provide credit if warehouse inventory is similarly short-dated.

Pet Habitat does not credit for products that have expired due to poor movement or lack of rotation.

If you believe we have shipped a moldy or infested product, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery. Please have an invoice number, item number, batch code, best by date and photos available.

Pet Habitat does not guarantee the sale of any item. While we suggest that slow moving/overstock items be discounted at the retail level, saleable items may be returned with prior approval, providing it has 90 days remaining before “Best By” date. Products must be returned within 30 days of the purchase date. Any return in this category will be subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Any product not returned within 30 days of purchase will no longer be eligible for return. Product returned with price stickers of any kind, without original packaging, permanently marked in any way or otherwise deemed unsalable will not be eligible for credit and will be returned with your next delivery.

International Orders

We do not ship international orders at this time, except for neighboring African countries, eg Namibia.

Changes To This Agreement

Pet Habitat may vary these terms and conditions from time to time by posting revised terms and conditions on the website. Your continued use of the website following Pet Habitat's posting of any changes will constitute your acceptance of such changes. If you do not agree to the changes of these terms and conditions then you must stop using this website immediately other than to request your account be closed.

Copyright and Use of Trademark

Except as expressly permitted by these terms and conditions, you may not copy, reproduce, redistribute, download, republish, transmit, display, adapt, alter, create derivative works from or otherwise extract or re-utilize any of the contents of this website. In particular, you may not cache any of the contents for access by third parties nor mirror any content.

Where we link to other websites not operated by Pet Habitat it does not imply any endorsement of the material contained on the sites or of the owners.

All rights, including copyright, in the content of these web pages from time to time are owned or controlled for these purposes by Pet Habitat. All trademarks, names, and logos are the proprietary marks of us or of our associated companies. Marks identifying third parties are owned or licensed by those third parties or their associated companies. Nothing in these terms and conditions in any way confers on you any license or right under any trademarks, names or logos.

These Terms and Conditions and your order confirmation constitute the Contract.
