Burgess Excel DualCare Recovery Diet is a complementary feed for sick or recuperating rabbits and guinea pigs (fibrevores). Suitable for feeding after illness or surgery, Excel Dual Care contains long length digestible and indigestible fibre to aid recovery and recuperation. These high levels of fibre along with prebiotics to promote a healthy gut flora, also help to support gastro intestinal function.
Containing all the necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals required to meet the nutritional needs of both rabbits and guinea pigs, Dual Care also contains Magnesium Trytophan and high levels of protected Vitamin C to help support and meet increased requirements during times of stress and recovery.
Burgess Excel Dual Care can be fed either in its dry form as a nugget, or can be softened by the addition of warm water to make a paste that can then be syringe fed using a wide tipped syringe.

Instruction For Use – Syringe Feeding
Syringe feeding requires patience as after each 1-2ml the rabbit or guinea pig should be given the opportunity to swallow with the syringe removed from the mouth. To make up a syringe feed paste we recommend adding 2 parts warm water to 1 part Excel Dual Care – allowing to soak for 3-4 minutes and then gently mixing into a paste. Syringe using a wide tipped syringe.
The patient should receive a maximum 10ml of paste per kg of bodyweight per syringe feed session and also will require regular feeds throughout the day, typically 3 feeds, depending on nutritional requirements of the individual patient.
We recommend that the solution is made up fresh each feed to the required consistency. Always clean the syringe thoroughly after each feeding session. As the patient starts to recover, very gradually progress them to consuming Excel Dual Care as a nugget with no added water. Once fully recovered the patient can be transitioned on to the appropriate life stage nuggets from the Burgess Excel feeding plan.
Always ensure fresh, good quality hay and fresh clean water is available at all times for the patient, so that as soon as they want they can start consuming hay and drinking.
