Feeding Tips
Remember that good quality hay and/or grass should make up the majority of your chinchillas’ diet and should be available at all times. Chinchillas should also be fed a small amount of leafy greens each day. Please talk to your vet for further information. If you are currently feeding a muesli style food to your chinchillas you should gradually transfer your pets onto a hay and nugget based feeding plan over a period of between 14 and 28 days, by gradually reducing the amount of muesli and increasing the proportion of nuggets until they have completely replaced the mix. Always ensure you are monitoring your chinchillas’ weight to ensure a healthy weight. Always ensure fresh clean water is available for your chinchillas.

A nice change from plain food. My chins really like Excel and finished nuggets in no time at all. A great chinchilla food that I'm happy to recommend.

My chinnie is extremely fussy. This bag of food has lasted over a month and I still have half and he absolutely loves it. I mixed it with another brand and he picks all those pellets out and throws them on the floor around his bowl. He only leaves in the Burgess and then eats it. If I put the other brand in he makes sure he gets the bowl loose and throws all the food out. So.................I'm sold on Burgess!

This food is amazing and will definitely buy more once my sample bag is finished. My chin went totally crazy for this food. I tried to gradually put him onto the new food but he immediately picked the nuggets out of his usual food. Will definitely recommend this for anyone who has chinchillas. I prefer this food above other leading brands in our country. he cant pick out only the tasty bits and leave the rest which is always just a waste. Great food!! Great service!!

Fantastic food, I used to feed muesli type food and found myself throwing away half of the bag as they would just leave a lot of it. all my babies have been switched to this, now there is no waste. where before they were looking a bit less than perfect, now my babies are well rounded and playing happily. I would recommend this to anyone.

My chinchillas love Burgess Excel Chinchilla Nuggets. They have been living on it, supplemented by garden herbs and feeding hay, for many healthy years. Combined with excellent service from the Pet Habitat team, this is a great product.

My chinchillas have been eating Burgess Excel Chinchilla Nuggets for a couple of years now and have had no problems. They are always excited about dinner and I have never had any diet-related problems using this brand and I find that it is better suited to chinchilla nutritional needs than some other pellet brands which have too high sugar and protein content.
