Pinpoint pH Controllers Now In South Africa
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Aquatics | Marine Aquariums | Controllers | Marine Additives | Water Treatment | American Marine
pH is a measurement of the alkalinity or acidity of a substance. A pH level of 7 is neutral (e.g. water), while a pH above 7 is an alkaline substance and a pH below 7 is acidic. pH control is the process of adding an alkaline or acidic substance to a liquid in order to bring the measured pH within a desired range.   A pH controller consists of a probe to measure the current pH of a substance, chemicals to correct the pH via an injection pump, and a controller that calculates the required injection rate and activates the injection system. We know pH levels can be the difference between a great aquarium and well, a disaster. Measuring and adjusting aquarium supplements constantly can be time-consuming. And let’s face it; you have better things to do. Our clever American Marine Pinpoint pH controllers automatically monitors and fine-tunes the pH levels for you. The Pinpoint pH controller uses a high-quality pH probe to continuously monitor pH in freshwater and marine a.. [More] PinpointpHcontroller.JPG

Oceanlife is another incredible aquarium manufacturer from Italy whose incredible products is making its way soon to South Africa. The company has been operating for nearly 20 years and produces products like chemical additives, filtration media, test kits, food, aquariums and impressive livestock display systems.   We’ve been impressed with the level of quality from Oceanlife and other Italian companies. They construct quality aquariums that are beautifully designed from top to bottom including custom-coloured stands to make an impact. They pride themselves on building designs that fit the customer’s needs – whether you are a hobbyist or a retailer or wholesaler. A fresh source of nutrients can really make the difference to coral nutrition, colouration and health. From studies, Oceanlife learned that the concept to feed corals with fish wastes is conceptually wrong. In nature, our corals absorb from water a quantity of elements like minerals, vitamins a.. The Balling Method
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Aquatics | Marine Aquariums | Marine Additives | Water Treatment | Kamoer | Coral Food | Oceanlife
Named after Hans-Werner Balling, the Balling Method solves the difficult problem of maintaining Calcium, Carbonate, Magnesium, and Trace Element levels in reef aquariums. The largest benefit of the Balling Method over other supplementation methods is control. Even the highest calcium and carbonate demands can be met, without the PH issues associated with Calcium Reactors. Because each additive is added independently from a container it allows the aquarist to fine tune their water chemistry.   The purpose of the balling Method is to sustain the aquarium parameters as follows: Calcium: 380 – 420 mg/Liter Magnesium: 1200 – 1350 mg/Liter Alkalinity: 6,5 – 8 dkH Salinity: 33 – 35 Promille The Balling Method is the most commonly used supplementation method for reef aquariums in Europe because it does not require any special skills. One only needs an accurate scale, liquid measuring container and water. It is best to use distilled, or at the very le.. [More] ballingmethod.jpg

Best Controllers To Automate Your Aquarium
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Aquatics | Tropical Aquariums | Fish | Marine Aquariums | Kamoer | Dosing Pumps | Controllers | Water Treatment | American Marine
The best way to maintain a healthy aquarium is by keeping your water parameters stable. That is why it is essential to regularly monitor your water quality to ensure key parameters are at optimum levels for fish and coral. Aquarium automation is the hot trend that uses electronic devices to monitor and control key functions in the aquarium. In the past, the best you could do is turn your aquarium light on and off with a timer.   Today aquarium controllers and aquarium monitors are far more advanced and helps to ease the burden many aquarium owners feel about regularly testing their water conditions. While not necessarily a substitute for standard aquarium test kits, an aquarium controller can relieve you of testing key parameters like salinity, temperature, pH and ORP by providing continuous readings and logging the data to help you identify trends. There are different types and levels of automation based on the kind of controller. The control device can be a simple tempe.. [More] KamoerControllerlife.JPG

Why Calcium Reactors For Reef Aquariums
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Deltec | Coral Food | Aquatics | Fish | Marine Aquariums | Controllers | Calcium Reactors
Why do we need Calcium Reactors for reef aquariums? In nature, seawater bathes coral reefs and provides many minerals and elements. Of all the minerals and elements present in natural seawater, no mineral is consumed as quickly or in large amounts as calcium. Hard corals, which are the building blocks of the coral reef, demand large amounts of calcium to build their skeletons. Providing enough calcium to meet the demands of all the corals, invertebrates, and algae in a closed ecosystem creates a real challenge for the hobbyist.   To help you meet this challenge, consider adding a calcium reactor to your aquarium system. Calcium reactors automate the process of replenishing calcium as well as other minerals and trace elements. A calcium reactor is essentially a chamber full of aragonite, which is the crushed skeleton of ancient hard corals. Aquarium water is pumped through this chamber along with pressurized carbon dioxide (CO2). The CO2 lowers the pH in the chamber to an .. [More] coralreefaquarium.jpg

Deltec Launches New Protein Skimmers
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Deltec | Protein Skimmers | Aquatics | Fish | Marine Aquariums | Sumps
Protein Skimmers are a general name within the marine hobby for pieces of equipment that are designed to remove waste materials and proteins from the water column by a process called foam fractionation. In general terms a protein skimmer works by introducing high levels of air bubbles through a body of water containing waste materials. The waste and proteins are attracted to the air water interface and flow upwards with the surface where they can be collected. The larger the volume of air and the smaller the bubbles then the more surface area that is available to attract the proteins and the more efficient the skimmer.   There are two philosophies regarding the control of waste in a marine aquarium. One is to is to have an average performing protein skimmer to take out some of the protein but also have a large amount of biological filtration to deal with the resulting breakdown from the remainder. This type of system will normally lead to a trend for rising nitrate levels and .. [More] deltecnewproteinskimmers2019.jpg

New Self Repair LED Aquarium Lamps
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Aquatics | Aquael | Tropical Aquariums | Fish | Marine Aquariums | Aquarium Lighting
Over the past few years, light emitting diodes (LED) have rapidly been replacing fluorescent tubes in the aquarium market. LED lighting have the advantage of providing aquariums with perfect lighting conditions, whilst consuming far less energy than conventional light sources. In addition the lifespan of LED lamps is several times longer than fluorescent lamps. This is a huge saving because there is no need for frequent replacement.   However all LED aquarium lamps have the same problem that over time, some of the diodes will die. Aquael the leading manufacturer of LED lighting fixtures for aquariums, have developed a new and innovative self-repair technology system to provide an effective solution to this problem. In Aquael’s SUNNY version of LED lamps, if a diode stops working, its functions are taken over by the adjacent diodes, which start emitting light with increased power. Thanks to this unique and innovation technology, even after the failure of individual L.. [More] leddyslimlamp2.jpg
