pH is a measurement of the alkalinity or acidity of a substance. A pH level of 7 is neutral (e.g. water), while a pH above 7 is an alkaline substance and a pH below 7 is acidic. pH control is the process of adding an alkaline or acidic substance to a liquid in order to bring the measured pH within a desired range.

A pH controller consists of a probe to measure the current pH of a substance, chemicals to correct the pH via an injection pump, and a controller that calculates the required injection rate and activates the injection system. We know pH levels can be the difference between a great aquarium and well, a disaster.

Measuring and adjusting aquarium supplements constantly can be time-consuming. And let’s face it; you have better things to do. Our clever American Marine Pinpoint pH controllers automatically monitors and fine-tunes the pH levels for you. The Pinpoint pH controller uses a high-quality pH probe to continuously monitor pH in freshwater and marine aquariums.

You select the high and low set points. When either set point is reached the corresponding power outlet is switched on. This is ideal for controlling a carbon dioxide system. When the pH is high the controller turns on the carbon dioxide system. It turns off the CO2 system when the pH is in the desired range.

If the pH is too acidic from excess CO2, the second outlet is turned on, typically powering an air pump to drive off carbon dioxide gas. The Pinpoint pH controller can also be used to control the addition of “Kalkwasser” based on pH level.
