Little Critters Rescue Club
Posted By : Guest Filed Under : Rescue Centres
People are often unaware that local animal shelters in many parts of South Africa, have many rescued guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, pet rats and hamsters that need homes, primarily as a result of people who surrender them because they unable to take care of them properly. Little Critters Rescue Club is a non-profit, prolife, rescue, rehabilitate and re-homing organisation for small animals in Johannesburg.

Many pet stores house both male and female guinea pigs together and occasionally sell incorrectly sexed guinea pigs. This increases the odds that a breeding pair has been sold or that a young undeveloped sow is already pregnant when purchased (sows can become pregnant as early as four weeks of age). Other pet owners intentionally breed their guinea pigs “to see what it’s like”; and the number of unwanted guinea pigs needing homes continues to grow.

Little Critters Rescue Club rehome these needy critters (Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, hamsters etc) responsibly and educate people on how to correctly care for these animals, help prevent any breeding and promote adoptions through rescue organisations.

Buying from a pet store is often unplanned and unresearched. Getting your guinea pig or rabbit from a rescue service is better, because information on proper care is provided to the prospective new guardians which helps them make better-informed decisions.

Some guinea pigs and rabbits are not for everyone. They’re definitely not just for kids! But an informed, committed guardian who is willing to care for them, day after day and seek health care when needed will find them charming companions.

Little Critters is run from by Lauren Namer's home and other foster homes. She has created a beautiful safe haven including a 25m garden run as well as a 3 level luxury hut for these critters to live in. Here they
get all the love, stimulation, exercise and best food available to them, to get them ready for adoption.

Instead of buying from a pet store, why not adopt and follow Lauren on her facebook page to find out which cute furballs are available for adoption.
